Welcome to My Worship Guitar Page!

My name is Peter Ko and I offer guitar lessons for the sole purpose of worshiping the Lord.  My focus is on playing contemporary Christian music that encourages others to glorify the Lord and experience his full and complete awesomeness.  My goal is to raise up the next generation of worship leaders using the guitar as an instrument for his glory.  The guitar will always be the essential tool for the contemporary worship leader.  Think of Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, David Crowder, etc…all guitar players!

I have over 20 years of experience playing guitar and over 15 years of experience leading worship within the church.  I currently serve as a worship leader and worship deacon at Chinese Bible Church of College Park, Maryland.  My musical foundation was established as a child taking piano lessons for over 8 years.  After college, I transitioned to playing guitar and the rest is history.  Worshipping the Lord has been such a blessing upon my life and now I feel called to pass it on to others.

I offer lessons specifically in the following areas:

• Acoustic guitar – beginner, intermediate, advanced
• Electric guitar – beginner, intermediate, advanced

I also offer advice and training in the following areas:

• Music theory
• Leading worship
• Creating worship sets
• Working within a worship band
• Creating worship dynamics
• Integrating electric guitar into worship
• Integrating other instruments into worship

I can work with all levels of players - from the beginner just trying to get started to the advanced player wanting to refine his skills.  All that I require from my students is a desire to worship the Lord.  My teaching approach is to use contemporary Christian worship songs from day one as the basis for learning.  I can help you work with any specific songs you have in mind, including your favorites.  Some of my favorite songs include Hosanna, Mighty to Save, Our God, Cornerstone, and Oceans.  There are so many great songs out there, just too many to choose from!
